Exercise!!

Yep, I got up and exercised this morning even though I went to bed WAY to late last night and slept poorly.  I am so glad I followed through and hopped on the elliptical even if it was only for 20 minutes! Hey, in that 20 mins I burned 195 calories!

Week 9: Current Weight

170.6 (Maintain)

I stayed the same this week, which I am ok  with.  Don't get me wrong I'd love to have seen the scale move like it did when I was standing on it naked on Friday morning, but at least it wasn't a gain! This week I WILL see a loss!!!!

Fake Chicken

Yep, I broke down and bought some Morning Star Farms Chik'n Nuggets.  And they are actually rather tasty!!  :0)  They are 4 pts for 4 nuggets!   Yum!  They are also quick and easy!!!!  I have also bought some of their mushroom burgers and I can't wait to try them!

C25k: Game on!

Well I am back at C25k.  It's been a bit since I have run; I think about 2 weeks and I was so happy to get back at it this morning! I talked to my suppervisor the end of last weeks and she was willing to let me come in a 1/2 hour later 2 days a week so I could have time to exercise in the morning!! I am so thankful for her support.  I told her what I was doing and she said, "Good for you, Jess!"  She really is a great lady!

Anyways, back to the monster at hand: W4D2.  I did all of it, but the last 5 minute run interval.  I am ok with it and I will get back at it on Thursday.  I will FINISH this program even if it means I have to complete it on my elliptical machine once its too cold outside to run.  Really wish I had access to a tread mill!  Ah well.

My favorite moment this weekend was watching Little Miss Sunshine jump into the pool at swim lessons on Sunday with barely any assistance and swim the length of the pool, again with little assistance!!! She amazes me how quickly she learns things! I was so very proud of her!  This is only her second session of swim lessons and lets face it, the girl is ONLY 3 years old!! WOW!!!!

Health and Body Image

1) If you could magically change one thing about your body, what would it be? My stomach.  Blech.  Being over weight for several years and then getting pregnant have wrecked my stomach.  Not to mention the road map of stretch marks I have thanks to my sweet 3 year old! 

2) What is your best physical feature? My eyes.  They are a nice shade of blue! 


3) Do you weigh yourself daily? Hourly? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Never? Mondays are my weigh in day and I do it weekly.  Sometimes I might hope on the scale mid-week to see where I stand, but I try not to do that too often as I drive myself mad!


4) Do you workout regularly? If so, how does if affect you from day to day? I has been doing great with that, but the past few weeks have been a struggle concerning anything weight loss related.  When I was working out regularly it made me feel great and pumped to exercise again!  Gave me a real sense of accomplishment.

5) What is the healthiest thing you do for yourself on a regular basis? Drink water!!!!  I drink lots of water each day; my bladder doesn’t like it much I tell ya. 


6) If you could look like a celebrity, who would you choose to look like? Hmmm…. Not any one in particular; just like to be a bit thinner and healthier like most of them are. 


7) What do you do to make yourself feel pretty/handsome?Color my hair! Hehe.. Yep, I am one of those lucky premature grey people! WOO HOO!!

  8) What are you most attracted to in the opposite sex? Kindess and gentleness.  A cute butt helps too!  ;)

  9) Have you ever avoided situations because you didn't want people to see your body shape?  Heck YES! We are beach go-ers.  I however NEVER wear a bathing suit to the beach.  Heck no.  There are too many other hot boded people that make me feel just awful about myself.

10) How do you feel about your overall appearance? Hmmm.. Pretty crappy.  I am trying really hard to feel good about myself, but I just haven’t lost quite enough weight to see or feel much of a difference

Weight Loss Contest: Week One

Stephanie, author of the blog She's In There Somewhere, is hosting a contest. Here is my first week weight!

This is not GREAT, but not horrible either. I haven't WI at WW in almost two weeks and I haven't been vigilant in counting points, making healthy food choices, or watching portions too well. I have gone back to work in the past few weeks and it has been an adjustment. I have struggled with getting everything in that I want to, including working out. I will find a way to do it and make it work!

On a funny note, this is the 2nd picture I took today of me on the scale! I realized that the weight I saw at first was because I was weighing myself while holding my camera! LOL! DOH! I nearly freaked when I saw it! It had me up almost 4 lbs from my last WW WI!!! Phew... thank goodness I realized my mistake!!!

C25k: W4D2

I tried to do this on my ellipitical since Little Miss Sunshine is napping and DH is at work, but alas I made it only 25 mins of the 32.  Not sure what the deal was; just couldn't do it.  That's ok though! I tried and that's all that matters! I bumped up the rpm during the running intervals to 60 so that maybe why I was feeling such muscle fatigue.  I WILL try again! I will NOT let this beat me down.

Apple Tarts


Sunshine and I made Apple Tarts tonight and boy does our house smell amazing!!!  We made 48 of them to share with family and friends!  The recipe we used came from cooks.com. We used reduced fat crescent rolls to make them a bit more healthy.  According to Weight Watchers recipe builder, they are 3 pts each which I think is divine!!!!  Off to munch on one right now....

C25K: W4D1


Today's workout consisted of: 
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then: - Jog 3 minutes - Walk 90 seconds - Jog 5 minutes - Walk 2-1/2 minutes - Jog 3 minutes - Walk 90 seconds - Jog 5 minutes - Five-minute cooldown walk

BOOM BABY!!!

I DID IT! I was able to get through W4D1!! I am so HAPPY!!!!  It was tough and I never thought I'd make it through the last 5 minute section with out my legs refusing to work and falling off.  Thankfully I pushed through it and kept telling myself to keep on GOING!!!!!  WOO HOOO!!!   Now to do it two more times and move on to W5!!! EEK!!!

Mmm... Pork Ribs

Right now I have pork ribs cooking in my crock pot for dinner!! Delish! Here is the recipe I used from allrecipes.com: (I substituted honey bbq sauce for the ketchup for a little more kick of flavor and omitted the chilli sauce and hot sauce.)

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork baby back ribs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash hot sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  2. Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a shallow baking pan. Brown in oven 15 minutes. Turn over, and brown another 15 minutes; drain fat.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and salt and pepper. Place ribs in slow cooker. Pour sauce over ribs, and turn to coat.
  4. Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 8 hours, or until ribs are tender.

These are really not WW friendly, but sound  and smell so yummy!

C25k: Back at it!

WOO HOO! I jumped back on the pony today and did W3D3.  It was tough and I barely pushed through it, but I made it! This is my 3rd time doing  W3D3 because I just don't feel ready to go on to W4, but I think I am just going to suck it up and try it next time I run! Wish my luck!!!

  1. I have pet rats! I have had them off and on since the age of 5! I even used to raise them for pets!
  2. I had a broken nose as a kid!  I was trying to empty off my play-doh mat outside and fell down cement stairs!
  3. I am an only child.
  4. I have had 6 cars since I got my license at 17!  Is that a lot?
  5. I love to watch TV!  Probably a little too much!
  6. I am a very unorganized person at home.  I really hate it about myself, but I am trying to make head way.

What the hell am I doing?

I gave myself the day off on Sunday for my birthday, which has now turned into Monday and Tuesday being not so great days.  :(  I did great this morning up until dinner and wham-o I ate my left-over chinese food that DH bought for dinner on Monday night.  Oy.  Well its gone now and I am back at it tomorrow.  No guilt, move on!

Current Weight: Week 7

Happy birthday to me!

I WI in this morning (one day early - WW is closed tomorrow due to the holiday) and I am -.4! Not a lot, but I'll take it! I only exercised 2x this week and I had cake 2x in one day because of birthday celebrations for me! Phew.... I'd say thats a pretty good loss considering.

Also in honor of my birtdahy and the fact that I have already WI, I am taking the rest of the day OFF from counting pts.  Back at it tomorrow!!!

C25K: Elliptical Style

I was itching to do some real sweat causing exercise tonight so I hopped on our elliptical machine and did W3D3 again.  During the intervals that I was supposed to be walking I kept the RPM at 43-45 and when I was "running" I did between 55-60.  I felt great when I was done and was sweating pretty heavily!  I haven't used that this in a long time; its been sitting around being a dust magnet and I forgot just how good it feels to complete a work out on it!!!  YAY! I am so close to get running again!! WOO HOO! My goal is to run again on Monday!  It will be over a week since my last run and that makes me nervous, but I know I can do it!

C25k: Paused

I haven't run since Saturday! Why you ask? Could it be the sweltering heat we have had here since Sunday?  Nope! I am a klutz and fell on Monday night; I had a very serious sprain to my left ankle in HS and since then it has been wrecked and often buckles on me when I least expect it.  Well, it decided to say a big ol' F*U to me on Monday night and I came crashing to the ground in my driveway (thankfully it was dark so no one but Little Miss Sunshine saw it happen)!  I twisted my left ankle and scrapped the hell out of my right knee! I will save you the gory details and not share pictures! Both have been very sore since then and my knee I think was even infected a bit.  So I haven't been able to do any C25k since then! Ugh.  So very sad. Who knew that I would love running so much!?!?!  However, this morning I decided to get out there early before it got too hot and humid to go for a walk.  I walked for 37 minutes, most of it uphill.  Boy it felt GREAT to get out there and do something good for my body, mind, and soul!!!  :)  I will continue to walk the next few days and then start running again as soon as I feel my ankle and knee aren't so sore!  I can't wait to get back to running!!!!!
